Easter Sunday
We spent Easter weekend down in Charlotte with Dennis, Holly and the boys. We drove down on Saturday, which was a gorgeous 70 degree day and played outside with the kids. Cody and I made "Sam's Western" chili recipe for dinner that night. As always, it was delicious!
The Easter bunny left Sam his basket at the Hauck's too. He got a new book, 'Little Bunny', some Puffs, Nilla Wafers, and a few plastic eggs. He really enjoyed the Nillas.
Joey and Sam posing with their baskets.
Dennis was on an egg hunt. Look at that wild man hair!
Sam enjoyed shaking the eggs...I put a few Cheerios in them for fun.
All dressed in his Sunday best.
Our first Easter together
My gorgeous lil' nephews...they were such good little boys at Sunday mass. Unlike my lil monster, who was being a wiggle worm.
Sam driving the car...he thought this was very neat. Maybe we will get him a Cozy Coupe for his birthday.
Dennis and Holly made a delicious Easter supper with Prime Rib, Risotto, Asparagus and a Cake for dessert. It was a lovely weekend!

Good News, Bad News, Good News
Do to lack of computer as of late, I am totally backed up with all kinds of pictures and news... there has been alot going on with the extended family these days and since I know many of you have been asking about the Damien-Karen baby update, I will start with that.
Lil' Damien Jr. (yeah that right, another Damien) was born on March 20th at 2:17pm. He is a healthy baby weighing in at 9lbs. 13oz., and measuring at 21.5 inches! Nana (my mom) says he is the cutest little butterball. Karen is doing awesome, a bit sore, of course...but she delievered that baby in record time. She went in for an early induction around 7am and was a Momma by mid afternoon. I have no pictures to post just yet, the new father has got to get on Kodak or Snapfish and send this Auntie some pictures (**hint**)
Now, for the not so happy news...
Cody's sister, our Sarah was in a horrible car accident last Saturday night, March 15-16. She was coming home from a party with her fiancee, Bill, who unfortunately for Sarah was incredibly intoxicated. I am going to spare all the personal-legal details for now and focus more on Sarah and her recovery. She suffered some internal damage to her colon and bladder, as well as a broken leg in 2 places...a broken arm and wrist...a broken ankle...and several skin abrasions all over her face and body. Needless to say, Sarah, is beyond lucky to be alive. The car from what we understand was going over a 100 mph at the time of impact and is nothing but a ball of twisted metal. The doctors have already performed several surgeries over the last week scrambling to repair the damage done to her broken body. The internal injuries were all stabilized within the first few days, however, the surgieon went in yesterday to target some infection and remove about 3-5 inches of decaying tissue. He placed a vacuum of sorts to help drain the area of infection and he hopes to be able to go in again soon to close it all up. Her leg was operated on a second time yesterday, they were able to successfully place one of the two plates in her leg. They will have to go in again to place the other. The break was so severe they also placed outside stabilization to assist in healing the break. Her other injuries have been also addressed and are in the process of healing. She is looking at a few more weeks in the hospital from what we understand and a long road of recovery ahead of her. She is in alot of pain right now, and needs all the prayers and well wishes she can get.
The good news is... Sarah is alive! She has a wonderful, supportive family that is going to stand by her and help her and the girls get on with their lives and move past this horrible tragedy. She is a very strong woman and will get threw this hard time, but not without alot of blood, sweat and tears.

8 months old!
This is such a late 8 month post, but we were having some technical difficulties with our computer. It was in the shop for over a week, but now we are back up and this stay at home momma is in touch with the outside world again.
Life with Sam has really been moving along. He has made some major changes over the last month, he is rolling all over the place, scooting backward/or in a circle and going from sitting to crawl position, definately way more mobile. He is really successful now at picking up Cheerios with his finger and thumb and releasing it into his mouth, he loves to feed himself. We have added lots of yummy new foods, yogurt and cheese (which he LOVES)! Although, a not so fun thing he has learned is how fun it is to zerbert food all over the place when he is eating. This is hugely entertaining for him, I feel like I am at a Gallagher comedy show. He is using all kinds of babbling including 'dada' which was both exciting and a moment full of pride for his daddy. He is getting easier and easier by the day, instead of being my baby, he is more like my sidekick...I just adore his little personality. He has started to develope a sense of humor and laughs at things now. We are still struggling with some separation anxiety, I have been working on getting him to attach to a lovey...we will see how it goes.
He loves being outside!
Sam has learned to give hugs!

This is a great picture to kind of show his general demeanor. He has what we call 'bird lip'. He fixes his mouth like this whenever he is concentrating, listening, or playing. It is very sweet.

Karen's Baby Shower
Holly and I drove up with all our little guys on Thursday to throw Karen her last shower before lil' Hauck shows up. The drive up was pretty good, Sam was the crankiest and that was only for about an hour before dinner. I can't say I blame him he was starving and he needed a new diaper. Holly, Mom and I showered Karen this past Saturday at my Aunt Pat's house. It was a big success, most of our family in the area was able to make it. I think Karen and Damien are almost ready for baby, well as ready as anyone can be.
The party game was a word find, I am not much for shower games...guessing the food in the dirty diaper is just gross and seeing who can chug a baby bottle reminds me of spring break in college...don't ask, it is a humiliating story. Tristan's girlfriend and a cousin of mine won the prize of $5 gift cards to Barnes and Nobles since the theme of the shower was storybooks.
This was most of the little cousins in attendance, we missed a few more who left before we could coordinate the picture.
Pop-pop took charge of Sam. He was a very good boy and man does he love his Pop-pop. Everytime he walked in the room, Sam would cry to be picked up and sung too.
The trip back was very long, it took us almost 10 hours! We had to stop a lot, and the I missed my turnoff near Roanoke. The lil' guys weren't quite as patient on the way back. Dennis was as good as gold and is now almost completely potty trained. I think if Sam and Joe did the best they could given the long drive.
